Get Motivated Sucka!

This week I have worked 42 hours of overtime.  That’s 42 hours on top of my regular schedule.  That’s a lot.  It hasn’t left any time for exercising.  It has also meant that I have had to eat and run quite a bit.  I haven’t been making the best choices.  Nothing really bad.  Lots of carbs and not much fruit and veggies.  I can feel it.  I have that dirty, fat feeling.  It’s like going to the gym every day cleanses me.  When I don’t go I feel dirty.

I need to really re-commit myself.  I want to be the guy that can grapple match after match until everyone else is tired.  I want to be the guy that can spar another round when everyone is done.  I want to be the guy that people watch in the gym because the workouts are crazy hard.  I want to be the guy that has no qualms about taking his shirt off at the beach.

It’s not like I’ve been off the exercising for months.  It’s only been about a week and a half.  However, I feels a lot longer.  I’ve been focusing a lot on the traditional heavy weight lifting, muscle-building routines for the last little bit.  I like it quite a bit, but I think a change may be due.  I am thinking about a 2 day weight lifting routine and then several circuit/body weight/interval training routines the rest of the week.  If I’m going to get back in to the BJJ, then I need a good combination of strength and cardio conditioning.

I know what to do and what to eat.  The question is, will I put what I know in to practice???

  1. I know what you mean it’s hard to find time to get our workouts in this week I had to adjust and do short morning workouts and I only did that twice. Between working all the time trying to start up my blog life gets hectic. But I always remember something is better than nothing if you can knock out 100 push ups and 100 sit-ups at night before going to bed that helping you build muscle and time right there. Our drill sergeants would always tell us to do 250-300 a day and break that up because the muscle still remembers lol. Keep up the good work you’ll get back in there!

  2. I didn’t think I had time for exercise until i found 7 minute workouts. The funny thing is once you start sharing this with others then you just can’t stop.

  3. I totally understand that feeling! Sometimes I would wake up really early or sneak to gym during lunchtime, just to get at least 30mins of ”cleanse”…

  4. dang now that is a lot of Overtime! Yeah don’t beat yourself – just do what you can; re instate the healthy eating habits as much as possible an get back into the workouts – you will feel like you are back in the groove in no time.

    • I know, right? It’s exhausting. I know things will get back to normal quickly, It’s just hard to keep a positive attitude about it. 🙂

  5. It sounds like things are crazy for you right now. I can’t even imagine that much overtime. I hope you like your job, at least.

I know sometimes it’s easy to get into an “all or nothing” mindset. I can’t do X workout and I don’t have time to make my meals, so forget it all. Short workouts can still be useful. There are decent, if not perfect, takeout options at restaurants, grocery stores, and even some fast food joints.

I hope things calm down for you soon.

  6. I feel your pain. I got married two years ago and have since put on about 20 lbs. The past few weeks (ever since labor day weekend) I’ve been exercising like crazy but still struggling with portion control! I think you’re right…it’s really about recommitting yourself and having self control!
